John Calloway's professional journey spans leadership roles across diverse industries, leading to his current position as Founder & Executive Consultant at Calloway Venture. As the Executive Director of DEI & Social Impact for a leading U.S. cannabis company, Calloway directed initiatives that significantly supported veterans, education, mental health, and community involvement. He also headed Growing for the Greater Good, Inc., enhancing its charitable impact.


In his roles, Calloway has successfully rolled out DEI strategies, revised the corporate social responsibility blueprint, improved and structured the corporate recruitment function, developed comprehensive organizational onboarding strategies, led HRIS and LMS implementations, enhanced performance management policies and strategies, managed enterprise-wide learning strategies, and fostered community connections. Additionally, he established programs focused on workforce development, refined the Supplier Diversity program, and ideated and implemented the Employee Resource Groups to create a more inclusive workplace.


Calloway is a respected voice in advocating for diverse representation and active community participation, evidenced by his discussions with figures such as Ambassador Andrew Young and his presence on prominent podcasts.


Prior to making his transition, John Calloway spent 13 years at Walmart. There, he managed store operations for over 500 staff, provided operational support for four high-volume supercenter regions, and led initiatives in operational excellence, talent development, e-commerce, technology, and HR. His extensive experience and targeted leadership have established him as a key figure in both professional and community-focused activities.
